Wow To Return To The Winner's Circle

By Jeff Collerson
Wow pulled up well after being run down by Jungle Deuce in last week's Group 1 Ladbrokes Paws Of Thunder and is ready to bounce back and score his ninth win in 18 Wentworth Park appearances on Saturday night.

Wow has box six in the 520m Ladbrokes Switch Free-For-All and on times has a three lengths advantage on his nearest rival.

The Danielle Matic-trained Wow's personal best Wenty time is 29.38 while toughest rival Coast Model, who has won nine of 23 Wentworth Park races, boasts a personal best of 29.58.

While Wow, who has been beginning smartly, has won five of his seven outings from box six, his draw on Saturday night, Coast Model has been beaten in her only two appearances from box eight.

Coast Model will wear the pink rug on Saturday and was checked out of the race when a narrow leader at the first turn before finishing fifth, from box six, at Wentworth Park last Saturday.

"Wow has not had a run since last Saturday because he is very fit, he didn't need another gallop,'' Ruth Matic, trainer Danielle's mother said.

"He is nice and fresh after being on the lead for the past week.''

Fantastic Raven, who led throughout over 515m at Gosford on Tuesday night in a fast 29.25, looks good value from box one in Saturday night's 520m Where Else But Wenty Stakes, a fourth and fifth grade.

"She had box seven at Gosford but I'm happy seeing her in box one on Saturday,'' trainer Jason Mackay said.

"Fantastic Raven's only race at Wentworth Park was on December 29 when she made the pace from box one before finishing second to Aston Barak.

"Her run that night was nothing flash but she had been thrown in the deep end because she had not previously seen the track.

"I have since brought back to Wenty to give her another look and she went nicely.

"I believe Fantastic Raven has the potential to climb the ladder to the top in the next couple of months so from the rails on Saturday she should be hard to beat.''

Summer Key led all the way from box five to record her fastest Wentworth Park time of 29.90 when she won by six lengths on January 19 and has the same draw in Saturday's @wentworthparkgreyhounds Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

"This week's opposition is stronger so Summer Key will need to repeat the way she went when she won at her last start,'' trainer Andrew Rowe said.

"Since the January 19 race I have kept her in trim with runs up a slipping track so she is nice and fresh.

"She needed to be that way because Summer Key needs to ping the lids and be the pacemaker if she is going to beat Saturday's opposition.''

Ritza Coen, who became eligible for Masters races in mid-December, should only need even luck to break through for his first win in this class when he exits box six in Saturday's #getyourgreyhoundon Stakes over 520m.

At his initial Masters appearance Ritza Coen led to the catching pen before being overhauled by Sunburnt Highway and beaten nearly three lengths in 30.16.

There is no Sunburnt Highway to contend with on Saturday night and none of Ritza Coen's rivals can boast the Mark Gatt-trained dog's credentials of 10 wins and 19 placings from 48 WP starts.
