Tania Keeping won a 720m fifth grade by eight lengths at her Wentworth Park debut on May 25 and looms as tonight's best bet when she contests an identical class race at headquarters.
Tania Keeping made her debut for trainer John Finn when she led throughout in a slick 42.17 at Wentworth Park late last month and will have only five rivals when she exits box four in tonight's 720m Ladbrokes Mates Mode Stakes.
After her impressive Wentworth Park debut win Tania Keeping headed to LADBROKES GARDENS where she finished fourth in a heat of The Ladbrokes 715 last Saturday night.
Trainer John Finn's wife Minnie said: "Tania Keeping was far from disgraced at The Gardens, she went good.
"Lack of experience was against her against that top class opposition and while we knew we were throwing her in the deep end we had to have a crack when the final was worth $500,000.
"She pulled up well after the race and should go close on Wednesday, although Cawbourne Turvey, who has box eight, will be hard to toss.''
She was unlucky when second to Ziggy Stardust there on April 20 when she was checked in the middle stages, but was beaten six lengths with the winner recording 42.46.
Cawbourne Turvey has been placed in three of her six Wentworth Park 720m assignments but has not won in four outings from box eight.
John Finn has bright prospects of landing a winning double as his unbeaten youngster Zipping Lyris is tipped to make a successful Wentworth Park debut in Wednesday's Go The Blues Stakes, a heat of a 520m 1-3 wins event.
Zipping Lyris had box one when she won her first race, a 515m maiden heat at Gosford on May 24 in a nippy 29.60, before finishing fast to win the final in 29.64 after coming out of box five.
Zipping Lyris has box two tonight and Minnie Finn said: "She wants the fence so is well drawn.
"Zipping Lyris has a bit of early speed and although she has not raced at Wentworth Park she was schooled there early in her career, before she commenced racing.''
Another trainer who could land a double on Wednesday night is Michelle Sultana, who has Miss Sequence in box one in the $18 Roast @ Wenty Bistro Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, and Connections in box eight in the 520m Free-For-All.
Miss Sequence ran the race of her life at her only Wentworth Park appearance when a distant third to the brilliant Zambora Tiger in a fast 29.89 last Wednesday.
She drew box eight and after being slow to leave the boxes, was hampered in the early stages before coming from a remote fifth on the back straight.
Michelle Sultana said: "She has not previously drawn box one but I think the inside draw will suit her.
"I was very happy with her run last Wednesday and she should be hard to beat if she drives up along the rails at the first turn.''
Sultana considers Connections has a good chance of toppling likely favourite Bandit Ned providing her dog "nails" the start.
"Although he has box eight Connections can run a first split of 5.35 when he gets away smartly,'' Sultana said.
"If he does that Connections should be the pacemaker and will take a lot of catching.
"At the same time if Bandit Ned is sitting behind him in second place on the back straight he will be hard to hold off.''
Choo Choo Train had box six when he scored his second Wentworth Park win on April 27 and is likely to appreciate having the same draw in Wednesday night's Wenty Bistro Open 1-3 wins heat over 520m.
As a dual Wentworth Park winner Choo Choo Train is well graded and he posted his best Wenty figures of 30.21 when he won from box six at headquarters on April 27.
The Vic Sultana-trained dog was a fast finishing second from box one at Wentworth Park on May 25 before a luckless third, from box three, there last Wednesday.
After that race owner Gordon Sciberras said: "I think Choo Choo Train would be well suited drawn wide, providing there isn't a wide runner on his left like there was tonight.''
Sciberras was referring to Choo Choo Train having box three but being inconvenienced by a rival drifting to the right going into the first bend.
