Lucky Six For Chica In Richmond Oaks Heats

By Stuart Turner

Two-time Group winner Chica Destacada, recent Cosmic Rumble Gold Cup winner Fancy Top and 2015 National Futurity winner Zipping Midge head the fields for Saturday’s Group 3 Unibet Richmond Oaks (535m) heats.

Four exciting heats of the $30,000-to-winner race will be held, with the second heat in particular looking a ripper.

Chica Destacada (pictured) will have her first crack at the 535m for almost 18 months when she jumps from box six in this race.

Doreen Drynan’s star greyhound has been running solidly recently and has drawn her ‘lucky’ six box here, from which she has four wins from five starts.

Last year’s Group 1 National Futurity winner Rue De Kahn has drawn box one here and looks a huge threat.

DEAN Swain’s greyhound has enjoyed a consistent 2015, is always dangerous from the inside and ran a fine 30.50 here last month.

This quality-packed heat also features Kristy Sultana’s promising Morish (box five), who ran an impressive 30.39 over the 535m last Saturday night at Richmond and could be a great roughie chance for the series.

Zipping Midge jumps from box four and is also a strong contender, although this is her first appearance over 535m.

Jason Mackay’s greyhound is decent from the squeeze boxes and has generally been consistent this year.

The three other heats in the series, which is open to female greyhounds only, also look open races.

Among the standouts in heat one is recent Group 3 Ladies Bracelet finalist Star Torana (box five), who has also enjoyed a good 2015.

Fancy Top is the in-form greyhound coming into the series after her big win at Dubbo last month.

Anthony Azzopardi's greyhound looks tough to stop from box one in the third heat.

JODIE Lord’s kennel has been going great guns recently and one its stars, Uno Suzie, looks a great chance here from box three.

Uno Suzie made the final of the Ladies Bracelet after running an eye-catching 29.76 in the heats and is another hopeful in good form.

Another from DEAN Swain’s kennel, Ella Has Class, looks the top pick from box six in the fourth and final heat.

She had a good win at Wentworth Park last start and looks the best here.

Kristy Sultana's Jewel Action is decent from out wide and has been running well at Richmond recently, so should get through from box eight here.
