The Hound Says:Cut soon after the start (box 4) and luckless when 4 ¼ lens 4th in 19.14 here Oct 12. Landed 19.10 win here Sept 22 and handles wide boxes. Gets another chance.
Newcomers BUTTERFLY ANGEL (2) and MAMBO HERRERA (8) are key players. Mambo Herrera has had 2 siblings to race (Enzo Herrera and Harley Ryder) and both have won. Enzo Herrera has won his only 2 starts here in slick times while Harley Ryder has saluted in good fashion at Sandown (29.68). GOING GETS TOUGH (1) is the best of the ‘performed’ aspirants.
The presence of three debutants makes this neigh impossible to assess. Only that he has a moderate beginner to the left, BEGA BOY (2) goes on top. WICKED CYCLONE (8) was badly hampered at the first turn here Oct 12 and finished 7 ½ lens 4th in 22.60. The move away from box 5 is a plus. RAREFIED AIR (3) and MAGIC HULK (6) are the other newcomers.
FABULOUS PABLO (7) was impressive to the eye – and on the clock – here Oct 12 at his local debut when a fast 19.16 winner. He’s up in grade yet the one to toss. PHOENIX RULES (2) is well placed in this class having won 5 races. He has genuine speed and is a winner here in 22.59 over 400m. OLD MAN TRAPPER (6) and IMPRESS TITMUS (5) have claims.
The lightly raced SPRINGVIEW NOAH (1) is new here yet has won at Goulburn over 440m in a solid 24.92. He meets a moderate lot and the inside alley is a plus. ROCK BURNER (5) had been a consistent placegetter before striking trouble here Oct 12 when a distant last in 29.04. He gets another chance. TAKAHI CHISUM (4) is next best in a quiet affair.
Given a little room to move, DARK SPHERE (7) will give a great sight. He was hampered soon after the start here Oct 12 (from box 4) and finished only 4th in 19.14. He’s effective from wide out and has won here in 19.10. STEEL PULSE (5) is first up for more than 5 months. He’s won here over 400m in a slick 22.38. BRUCE MICK GLENN (3) is talented.
Keen on PHASE (1) which has won 4 here incl 3 at 400m. He was beaten at long odds on ($1.25) at Gosford Oct 14 over 520m but this track/trip is more to his liking. PURIFY VIRTUOSO (8) has posted 22.69 and 22.57 wins at his past two starts here. He’s at his best when drawn inside but is in very good form. SUPERSONIC BLUE (5) runs on very solidly.
SURE SHE IS (1) has won only 1 from 12 here at this trip but that was in 22.35. She posted a smart 18.82 all-the-way win at Richmond Sept 29 and this suits. MR. WENDAL (5) returned from a break over 297m at Dapto Oct 14. He’s a winner here in 22.63 and has a good turn of speed. VENOM CARTEL (4) has performed well up the straight at Richmond lately.
SLINGSHOT HOOKS (8) was dominant in a 22.60 maiden win here Oct 12. He strikes tougher company but is showing genuine promise. With a slow beginner to his inside, COOPER'S DREAM (2) gets plenty of room to move early. He’s performed well in 2 outings since a fall at Dapto Sept 9. SPRINGVIEW HAWK (4) will be better for his first start here Oct 12.
High speed is ENZO HERRERA’S (8) calling card. He posted a 19.22 win over 340m here Sept 25 on debut and doubled up Oct 12 in 22.44 at this trip. While untried from wide out, he’s the one to beat. CLANDESTINE (4) powered home (340m) Oct 12 when back from a break to score in a smart 19.14. This trip appeals. TIGER ARMY (1) has a turn of speed.
Though new here and never tested away from Richmond’s straight track, LOVE SOME MORE (6) goes on top. She has a turn of speed which most of her rivals cannot boast. LAMONT BALE (2) is nicely drawn and solid when 1 len 4th in 22.66 here Oct 5. SWEET CITY SAL (5) is a three-time winner here at this trip but latest results have been below best.
