First Time Wearing Red Will Suit Zipping Pearl

By Jeff Collerson
Zipping Pearl will wear the red jacket for the first time in Wednesday night's Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes at Wentworth Park but her record from boxes two and three indicate she will make full use of her rails draw.

The John Finn-trained Zipping Pearl has had four starts from two and three for two wins and a second so she can enhance her modest overall strike rate of four wins and five placings from 14 races.

She has been placed in three of her five WP appearances but those outings were after exiting boxes four, six (twice) and eight (twice).

Zipping Pearl looms as Wednesday's best bet while the value wager of the night should be Neangar Boy, a wide runner who has drawn box seven in the 520m Free-For-All.

Neangar Boy has been placed in two of his three WP races but because of his tendency to run wide was disadvantaged when third from box three at his two most recent starts, in top grade at WP and Dapto.

Trainer Caitlyn Brewer said: "All Neangar Boy has wanted is an outside draw at Wentworth Park.

"He runs so wide at the first turn there but from an outside alley he will already be out there.

"Neangar Boy is a good beginner with plenty of early pace and if he is left alone in the run to the first corner he should be hard to beat.

"He pulled up well after his third to Tachycardic in a heat of the Dapto Megastar at his last start on December 2.''

Queensland trainer Robert Ayres won a double at WP in June with Boscono but sent I'm Explosive to Belmont (NSW) trainer Troy Robinson to contest the 600m Sportsbet Dapto Middle Distance Championship on November 18 and that greyhound snared the $25,000 winner's cheque.

Robinson was also caretaker trainer for the Ayres-trained Harrison House when that dog finished a close fourth over 520m at WP last Saturday night and will handle the dog again in Wednesday's WP Christmas This Saturday Stakes over the same trip.

Harrison House looked strange to the track last Saturday and after being six lengths off the lead on the back straight, rattled home to finish two lengths from the winner, Pazienza.

"Harrison House should be improved by last Saturday's fourth because he had not seen Wenty Park before that race,'' Robinson said.

"Although Robert Ayres feels Harrison House will be particularly suited by NSW's one turn tracks Bulli and Maitland, I was impressed by the dog's run last week.''

Harrison House raced wide from box three in his WP debut but railed well when he won over 520m from box two at Albion Park on December 6 so should handle box one on Wednesday.

Another "Harrison", this time Harrison Keeping in the Santa Here On Saturday Stakes, should only need to step away cleanly to go close to notching his second win in four WP appearances.

Harrison Keeping led throughout from box one in 30.23 at WP on December 1 but bungled the start and was checked at the first turn before an unlucky third from box eight last Saturday.

Trainer Sarah Easey said: "I thought Harrison Keeping went really well last week considering he missed the kick.

"His run home time has always been the weakest part of his racing but he got to the line better last Saturday.

"He seems to be getting stronger every run and if he can get out smartly on Wednesday he should be no worse than second on the first turn and would be hard to beat from there.''
