Triple Treat For Rowes

By Jeff Collerson
Andrew Rowe and daughter Karly Rowe must surely have created a record at Dapto last Thursday when they won their second treble in 11 months with both "trifectas" recorded by members of the same litter.

Andrew landed 520m races with Taw General in a slick 29.87 and Hibiscus Moon in 30.12 while Karly scored with Exude Lightness in 30.32.

The Rowes had trained a winning treble at Bulli on October 27 last year when Taw General, Hibiscus Moon and their litter brother, Sionna Max, were successful.

"These dogs are all from my bitch Wayang Angel's first litter to Fernando Bale, and according to my records there have been 46 winners and 91 placegetters among them,'' Andrew Rowe said.

"Wayang Angel's second litter comprises five 11 month old pups by Barcia Bale, while seven weeks ago she whelped four puppies to Orson Allen.''

Although their times were slower than Taw General's figures last Thursday, Hibiscus Moon and Exude Lightness overcame interference to win.

Hibiscus Moon was skittled at box rise when a greyhound on her right cut sharply to the rails while Exude Lightness found trouble at the first turn.

South Coast trainers Robyn and Glen Goodwin also led in three winners at the weekend, taking out 324m races up the Richmond straight on Saturday morning.

They won with Radiation in a slick 17.58, Mando in 17.75 and Horchata who clocked 17.77.

"We believe that was our second treble as we certainly won three races at Nowra on Robyn's birthday last year,'' Glen Goodwin said.

"Horchata's win on Saturday was especially pleasing because he had never seen the Richmond straight.

"We had been unable to book a trial at Richmond for him but he was going extra well up the straight at Appin and he was so fit and ready to win so we threw him in without a prior look, something we rarely do.

"Radiation has been a terrific money spinner because he has missed a prizemoney cheque just five times, going to the races on 32 occasions for 13 wins and 14 placings.''

Uno Herrera, who won over 520m at Wentworth Park in March and April and won three successive races in July, is close to resuming racing after a gashed foot setback.

Trainer Ricky Brewer said: "A piece of glass went right through her foot but fortunately it did no long-term damage and Uno Herrera is airborne again.

"While she is still showing the brilliant early pace she has always possessed, in her recent trials Uno Herrera seems to be now getting to the line more strongly.''
