A Titan Ready for a Winning Wenty Debut

By Jeff Collerson

Hardaway Titan has not raced at Wentworth Park but trainer Ron Marsden is planning on trialling his 39kg giant there following the dog's best of the night 22.31 win over 400m at Bulli on Saturday.

It was Hardaway Titan's 22nd win from 38 starts but Marsden revealed the dog had trialled at Wentworth Park earlier in his career and did not go as well as expected.

"He has had a couple of post-to-posts at Wenty and did not set the world on fire, unlike his brothers Hardaway Harada and Cee Jay's Boy, who both loved the place,'' Marsden said.

"Hardaway Titan is a better dog now than when he last saw  Wentworth Park but he is such a big dog I want to ensure he can handle the place well before taking him there to race.

"If I was certain he was going to come out as well as he did at Bulli on Saturday I would be fairly confident about him at Wenty but I need to know he can handle it capably in case he missed the kick in a full field race there.''

Definitely Wenty Park-bound are trainer Keith Pedrana's duo, Zipping Ryder, who won in 22.66 over 400m at Bulli on Saturday, and Stomping Tiger, a fast finishing fourth behind Black Twister.

"I paid $10,000 for Zipping Ryder from his Melbourne owner a couple of months back and he should handle WP well because he has won in 30.73 over 520m at Cranbourne and been runner up over 515m at Sandown and in 525m and 600m races at The Meadows,'' Pedrana said.

"But Stomping Tiger, who just missed a place at Bulli on Saturday, is much quicker.

"On Saturday Stompting Tiger clipped the heels of another dog near the first turn yet still clocked 22.56 getting beaten.

"He only won  his maiden on May 15 but ran into a hot field on Saturday so I thought his run was terrific.

"I know Stomping Tiger can handle  Wentworth Park because I broke him in there and he has trialled fast on that track.''
