Dailly Hopefuls Looking Four-Midable

By Jeff Collerson

Victoria's powerful Andrea Dailly kennel returns to Wentworth Park on Saturday night with live chances in each of the four heats of the Group 3 Evans & Son Jewellers Ladies Bracelet.

Dailly, who won this year’s National Derby and Golden Easter Egg double with Fernando Bale, has Dyna Nico in heat one of the $25,000-to-the-winner series, Elfen Bale in heat two, Kerrigan Bale (pictured) in the third heat and Spring Leaf in the fourth run-off.

Andrea Dailly’s husband Tom has advised punters to ignore Dyna Nico’s fourth at her most recent outing at Sandown when assessing form for Saturday night.

“She went up in the air with the lids - Something she has never done before because she is usually a good beginner,’’ Tom Dailly said yesterday.

Dyna Nico’s two wins and five placings from eight Wentworth Park starts include the minor placing in Fernando Bale’s Golden Easter Egg final on April 4.

The only Wentworth Park Rookie of the Dailly quartet is Elfen Bale, a litter sister to the mighty Fernando Bale.

“She has had seven wins and six seconds from 17 starts and because she has good early speed I thought we might as well bring her to Sydney,’’ Tom Dailly said.

Elfen Bale is capable of running around 30 seconds flat at The Meadows.

Kerrigan Bale has finished third at her past three Melbourne starts but she loves Wentworth Park, it is probably her favourite track.

Spring Leaf has had a bit of a let-up due to a minor toe injury but she is 100 per cent fit again now.’’

Spring Leaf faces stern opposition from National Sprint Championship winner Chica Destacada, who is ideally positioned in box eight.

Kerrigan Bale is expected to be near the lead all the way and even if noted front runner Lucy Lips beats her to the first corner, Dailly’s bitch should prove too strong.

Jack Kade was a good third from box one at Wentworth Park on Monday night but trainer Jodie Lord is happier with the dog’s box seven draw in Saturday night’s Bolton’s Ridge Stakes.

“I far prefer Jack Kade drawn out wide,’’ Lord said.

“He is like his kennelmates and litter brothers Let It Develop and Pierro Kade, a hard chaser with terrific mid race speed.

“I also have Let It Develop and Pierro Kade in the tougher 400 Plateau Stakes on Saturday. They are similar to Jack Kade in that while they are not brilliant beginners they always seem to find the lead at some stage.

“If all greyhounds were as honest as this trio there would be no bookmakers left!’’

Trainer Mark Gatt has outstanding prospects of landing a double in races nine and 10 with Wild Fire and Wentworth Park Rookie More">More In Store.

Wild Fire made his city debut when a luckless third to Little Jill on Monday night while More In Store, who has trialled at Wentworth Park, was a runaway winner last week at Richmond.

More In Store is the best chance of my runners so long as she doesn’t get a start in heat two of the Bracelet, where she is first reserve,’’ Gatt said. “She can’t win that but I do think she will win race 10 because she has a near perfect draw and it looks a quiet field.

More In Store is a one pace type of greyhound but is very strong and I think she will get More ground later on.

Wild Fire was hampered by a wide runner before finishing third last Monday and should be a lot better this week.

"As long as he can clear Devine Vegas, who gets off the track and has drawn inside him, in the run to the first turn then he should do well.’’

The night also features the Group 3 Gold Cup (720m) decider and a terrific battle between Space Star and Sweet It Is.
