Dailly Tips Duo To Shine In Egg

By Stuart Turner

Fernando Bale and Dyna Double One are the gun Dailly kennel representatives to watch in this year’s Golden Easter Egg.

That is the inside word from kennel spokesman George Dailly ahead of this Saturday’s 10 heats of the $250,000-to-the-winner Group 1 series.

Eleven hopefuls will travel up with Geoff and brother Tom from their Victoria base for the heats, with ten having secured direct entry into the races.

Dailly said Fernando Bale  (pictured), who is returning to Wentworth Park after winning last month’s Group 1 National Derby, and Group 3 Perth Cup consolation winner Dyna Double One are his standouts.

“I think they are the two you should look at,” he said.

Fernando Bale didn’t come out the boxes well the other night (at Geelong) but he powered through and is in great form.

“He did a brilliant job at Wentworth Park (in the Derby) to get through the trouble at the first corner and chase home.

“As long as he and Dyna Double One get clear starts, I think they both have enough to finish in the top three here and progress.”

Fernando Bale (heat seven) has continued his great form from last month’s Derby, extending his career record to 10 wins and two minor placings from 15 starts.

Box six should not be a problem as he excels from the middle boxes.

Exciting newcomer Dyna Double One returned to winning ways last start at Geelong over 460m and looks the strongest contender in the sixth heat.

His only previous start at Wentworth Park was a terrific 29.74 run behind Shoulders in January’s Paws Of Thunder heats and he seems to travel well too.

Among Dailly’s other contenders is Spring Leaf, who jumps from box eight in the eighth heat.

This is arguably the most unpredictable heat, with the tough opposition including Ritza Hattie and Zipping Willow.

Spring Leaf ran second in last month’s National Futurity and Dailly believes she will go well again here.

“That’s a good draw,” he said. “She likes plenty of room, so that suits.

“As long as they don’t jam her at the first turn and affect her progress, she should have the speed to be up with the leaders here.

“She likes Wentworth Park and she should go well.”

One Dailly kennel hopeful flying under the radar slightly is the usually explosive Allen Deed, who has been below-par since falling at Wentworth Park last month.

He ran 29.43 at Wentworth Park last year, though, and has a strong record from box seven, where he starts from in what looks a winnable second heat.
