Wes Buckles Up For Another Final Appearance

By thedogs.com.au

Fastest heat winner Buckle Up Wes can confirm his favouritism for next week's Group 2 Curtains & Blinds Launceston Cup Final (515m) by winning the last of four semi-finals tonight.

Fresh from a third behind Iona Seven and Punch One Out in the Group 1 Sportingbet Paws Of Thunder at Wentworth Park on January 18, Buckle Up Wes (pictured)  started a short-priced favourite in disposing of Fast Turtle in last week's heats.

Boasting a record of eight wins and two seconds from 11 starts over the 515m at the track, only bad luck will stop the proven group performer from notching up another success.

Hellyeah Bolt looks the only danger from box seven as he handles a wide draw and has won four of his five starts over this course and distance.

Mighty Lomar (box two) and Nain's Lane (box one) look set to fight out the finish of the opening semi-final.

Mighty Lomar had the rails when she beat Whodat Lass in her heat in 30.10 after finishing second to Bain's Lane at her previous start here.

Bain's Lane had box seven when second to Fighting Fang last week in moderate time but look for a better effort as he has had two starts from the rails for two wins.

Victorian visitor Heidi Go Seek was having her first official start at the track when she proved too good for Nooee's Lad from box one last week and only need some luck early from box eight to figure prominently again in semi-final number two.

Chosen Jewel (box one) was safely held when second to Hellyeah Bolt in her heat but this is easier and the draw helps.

Nooee's Lad (box three) and Jeff The Tipster (box seven) also have claims in an open race.

In the third qualifier former NSW sprinter Black Rip has blossomed since heading to Tasmania and has the speed to offset box eight.

Black Rip won his heat in 30.22, taking his record over this trip to four from four.

Teddy Tom Boy (box two) should provide the most opposition while Dominator Girl (box three) and Fast Turtle (box seven) have each-way claims.
