Announcement In Relation To Richmond Derby & Oaks Draws

By GRNSW
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) and the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission (GWIC) wish to advise participants and stakeholders that the box draws conducted on Friday night for the finals of the Ladbrokes Richmond Derby and Ladbrokes Richmond Oaks were not correctly performed.

The draws for each event were performed with connections drawing a box based on the alphabetical order of the finalists. This is not the correct process and removes some randomness from the draw.

As a result, both box draws cannot stand and have been voided. GRNSW and GWIC apologise to all concerned for the error.

The box draws for both the Richmond Oaks and Richmond Derby will now be completed as normal, with the remainder of the race meeting on Tuesday.

We also wish to advise that following the heats of the Ladbrokes Mulwaree Sprint Series at Goulburn, an incorrect greyhound was named in field for the final.

The mistake arose as a result of a dead-heat for second in heat one between Yukon Bear and French Wish.

Five heats were conducted with all winners plus the three fastest second placegetters advancing to the final.

A decision was made that a ballot should be performed to decide which one of the dead-heating runners would advance as they both clocked 19.98s which was in fact the fastest second-placed time.

Yukon Bear was balloted out, with French Wish joining Manton Larry (19.99s) and Ideal Dream (20.03s) in the final field.

Upon consultation over the weekend, it was deemed that as both Yukon Bear and French Wish had finished second and were faster than all other second placegetters, both had fulfilled the qualifying criteria, and both should therefore be installed in the final field, along with Manton Larry. Ideal Dream has been named first reserve for the final.
