Nominations for the 2015 Richmond Riches Puppy Auction are now open with organisers confident the event will be another smash hit.

This year’s auction will take place on Sunday, November 29 and is expected to feature some of the country’s top pups for sale.

Last year’s inaugural Richmond auction proved hugely popular, with 325 pups auctioned at an average price of $4,370 per lot and a gross yield of $1,420,500 collected.

Richmond Greyhound Racing Club general manager Wayne Billett said he was confident this year’s auction, sponsored by Globe Memorial, would be even better.

“We have literally not stopped taking phone calls from vendors and breeders since the day after our first auction,” he said.

“The success of last year’s auction only made us more determined to ensure this year will be even bigger and better.”

Last year’s event attracted scores of prospective buyers and greyhound racing participants to the western Sydney club.

A pup by Where’s Pedro and Unfinished attracted the highest fee, selling to a Queensland owner for $30,000.

Some of the country’s most eye-catching pups and potential future champions of the sport are expected to feature this year.

Greyhounds sold at the 2015 auction will be eligible for the 2017 Richmond Riches, a racing series featuring more than $140,000 in prizemoney.

The series will include a ‘Triple Crown’ of events over the 400m, 535m and 618m distances.

This year’s auction takes place at the Londonderry Road club  will again be broadcast on Sky Racing2.

It starts at 9am.

For more information and nomination forms, visit the auction's website here or call the club on (02) 4578 2136.

Vendors will also be able to upload images of their pups on the website when this year’s catalogue has been finalised.
