GRNSW Initiates Inquiry Into Keinbah Trial Track

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has initiated an inquiry into alleged incidents associated with the Keinbah Trial Track.

The purpose of the inquiry will be to establish what incidents have occurred at the property and what further action, if any, may be appropriate by GRNSW or relevant authorities.

As part of the inquiry, hearings will be conducted with registered participants and members of the community.

The findings of previous investigations into Keinbah Trial Track will also be used to assist the inquiry.

There have been three investigations undertaken at the Keinbah Trial Track site since early 2014 – one by RSPCA NSW, one by GRNSW (both in 2014) and one in early 2015 by former NSW Police Deputy Commissioner David Madden.

At this stage no charges have been laid against any registered participant in relation to the allegations at Keinbah Trial Track, and it is premature to form a view that the property contains a mass grave as has been alleged.

GRNSW interim CEO Paul Newson said the inquiry would allow for GRNSW to further investigate the serious allegations being made in relation to Keinbah Trial Track.

“The inquiry has been established to investigate further the disturbing allegations that have been made in regard to animal cruelty at Keinbah Trial Track,” Mr Newson said.

“The inquiry will allow GRNSW to fully examine the allegations that have been made and determine what further action, if any, needs to be considered by GRNSW or other relevant authorities such as NSW Police or RSPCA NSW.

“GRNSW recognises there may be evidentiary challenges and limitations on what action may be available under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 given the likely passage of time, however believes it is in the public interest to fully investigate and achieve some certainty around what has taken place.”
