The new National Rule (Gar">Gar 84A) which requires participants to keep records detailing all treatments administered to greyhounds in their care is now in effect across Australia, and GRNSW will conduct a series of information sessions at TAB tracks in the first half of 2014, providing participants with an opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on aspects of the Rule.
The new rule, which was adopted by Greyhounds Australasia, states that the person in charge of a greyhound must keep and retain records on all vaccinations, worming and medical treatments administered to a greyhound.
The introduction of treatment records will not only assist integrity officials in monitoring the use of therapeutic substances, it may also assist in identifying the cause of adverse reports in positive swab hearings. The rule is similar to those recently introduced in the thoroughbred and harness racing codes.
GRNSW recognises that the rule may require significant changes for many trainers to comply with the new requirements.
To assist trainers in this reGar">Gard, GRNSW will utilise the period to June 30, 2014 to work with trainers to ensure they have an understanding of the new rule.
In addition to this, trainers should have received an information pack on the new National Rule in the post - this included a fact sheet and copy of the GRNSW Treatment Record template.
Please contact GRNSW on (02) 8767 0500 if you did not receive this information pack.
