Delta On Song For Maitland Assignment

By Noel Ovington

Zipping Delta is improving with racing according to her trainer Jason MACKAY and is set to notch up a hat-trick of wins in race eight at Maitland this evening, the Chadford Lodge Battlers Trophy (450m).

Zipping Delta started her career with placings at Richmond (twice) and Maitland before winning her heat of the Battlers trophy on January 2 in 25.20.

The daughter of Bekim Bale and Scarlett Spy then backed up two days later to score an impressive win at Richmond in a smart 30.70.

"She's still learning to race and is very young and very immature," MACKAY said.

"But having said that she is ticking over nicely. I think once she has had 10 to 15 starts and matures a bit we will see a much better dog.

"She has been running good times and I have no doubt she can go a lot quicker as soon as she works out this racing caper.

"She went through the four-dog trial stage without a problem and then moved up to the eight-dog fields and didn't have clue to tell you the truth, but she's starting to work it all out and after another six to eight starts she'll be able to put her hand up and show us what's she's got."

Zipping Delta will start from box two at Maitland with her danger She's A Pedro drawn directly inside her. She's A Pedro also recorded a time of 25.20 to win her heat.
