Quality Line-Up To Contest Bathurst Final

By Noel Ovington

Run Zarr Run made his racetrack debut with a smart win in a heat of the Julie Healey Memorial (450m) at Bathurst last Monday and looks hard to beat from box one in today's final.

The series is for greyhounds with 0-2 wins and Run Zarr Run came from box eight to win his heat in 26.04 - the fastest of the four qualifiers (replay below).

Trainer Colin Miller said he had no hesitation into entering his maiden performer in the series.

"He's a smart dog and showed early on he had a ability so I thought this would be a nice series for him," he said.

"He went very good in his heat and I think the move to box one will suit him even better.

"He comes out really good nine out of 10 times but there are some fast dogs in the final so he will have to come out."

The John Callaughan-trained Rum Punch (box three) was having his first looks at the track when he led throughout to win his heat in 26.06 from box three.

Prior to the heats Callaughan was concerned that Rum Punch had began badly at his previous starts from a bend start but he flew the lids and was never in danger and is a threat again.

Kid Dynamite is perfectly drawn in box eight and was also a heat winner in 26.08, but has recorded a flying 25.99 over this trip and will be hard to hold out.

The consistent All Too Fancy has drawn awkwardly in box four but with a clear run early has definite each-way claims.

The other feature event at Bathurst is the 2014 Orange Cup (520m) and in an open race Jack's Joker looks hard to beat from box seven.

The son of Collision and Lachlan's Gift has won two of his three starts at the track, the latest in a smart 29.86.

Charlm Road (box three) has good speed and has definite winning claims along with Watto Lotto (box four), who lacks early pace but runs on well.
