Hear Comes 13 In A Row

By Jeff Collerson
She's A Pearl, the queen of Wentworth Park, has refused to take a break from racing and will be back in action at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

The first greyhound to win the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg/TAB Million Dollar Chase double, returns after just a fortnight's rest in the 520m Free-For-All.

Trainer Jodie Lord said: "After she won the Million Dollar Chase on May 7 I wanted to give her a month off.

"But after a few days she was going crazy because she wasn't part of the race team, and was persistently biting the gate on her kennel.

"So I started sprinting her up the straight track Andy and I have on our property at Gunning and after a couple of those hit-outs she is ready to go again on Saturday night.''

She's A Pearl will be chasing her 13th successive victory and is not expected to have much opposition, especially as she is well drawn.

She's A Pearl will exit box two, from where she has been unbeaten in two starts, and has the luxury of a vacant box on her outside in three and a wide runner, Sally's Reward, in box four.

Jodie Lord also has strong claims with What About That, who will exit box seven and is fastest qualifier for the 520m Ladbrokes Cash In Final and with Panorama, set to leave box one in race six, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.

Lord said: "What About That had box one when he won his heat at Wenty on May 11 in 30.07 but I don't mind seeing him in box seven in Saturday's final.

"Actually I prefer What About That being drawn wide because he uses a bit of the track.''

Panorama has had a win and three placings from five Wentworth Park outings but relishes an inside trap, and has won four of his six starts from box one.

Saturday night's best value bet looms as the Alan Proctor trained March Legend, who has box eight in race five, a 520m fifth grade.

"March Legend is down a lot in class,'' Proctor said.

"He has been racing against third and fourth grade and even top grade dogs at Wentworth Park so he gets his chance dropping back to fifth class.

"Box eight suits him because he will stay out there and has good pace once he hits the ground.

"He is not a great beginner but his early pace can offset that trait to some extent, although he can't afford to do what he did from box eight in a tougher race at Wentworth Park on May 7 when he bungled the start completely.

"If you blow the start from box eight at Wenty it is nearly impossible to still get up and win.''

Apart from She's A Pearl, the safest wager at Wentworth Park on Saturday night should be Good Odds Emma, who was fastest heat winner in the Ladbrokes Switch Final for bitches and who has drawn superbly in box two.

Good Odds Emma led throughout from box three to win her May 11 heat in 29.85, while Bandit Jane, who clocked 29.98 and has box four in the final, was the only other heat winner to break 30sec.

Good Odds Emma has box two on Saturday night and should have no trouble landing on the rails at the first turn, as Manipulate, box one, lacks early speed and has done most of her recent racing over 720m.
