Sims' Sprinter Set To Cash In Again

By Jeff Collerson
Turbo Cash looks poised to score his fourth successive win in the space of under three weeks after drawing suitably in box seven in the #getyourgreyhoundon Stakes, 520m fifth grade, at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

The Peter Sims-trained greyhound won from box one over 457m at Temora on June 9 before defeating We Don't Share after coming from box two at Wentworth Park on June 15.

Then last Friday night Turbo Cash had box five when he was fourth early before running down his kennelmate Impress Dressel to win over 570m at Temora in a near record 32.72.

Trainer Peter Sims said: "Boxes don't seem to worry Turbo Cash at all because he will take a rails’ run or he will hunt up on the outside of his opponents.

"Almost Famous, who has box six against Turbo Cash on Wednesday, seems to have good early pace and he might give my dog a good cart across in the run to the first turn.

"I'm pretty confident about Turbo Cash on Wednesday while I will be surprised if my other dog Impress Dressel doesn't at least fill a place in race five.

"He has clocked 29.82 at Wentworth Park and made the pace when beaten just under two lengths by Turbo Cash over 570m at Temora last Friday.''

Impress Dressel's toughest rival looms as Falcon Fly, who is undefeated in four starts from box eight, his draw on Wednesday night.

Falcon Fly was beaten a dozen lengths when third to Impress Shades and Bandit Ned in a much harder race at Wentworth Park last Wednesday and his move from box four to eight will benefit him.

But Falcon Fly has had a change of kennel since last week and is now with Cowra trainer Geoff Curtale.

"I've seen plenty of this dog at Bathurst and on his form there he should be able to run 29.80 at Wenty but so far he has not brought his country form to town,'' Curtale said.

"Falcon Fly has only been placed in three of his six Wentworth Park starts so I'm hoping he can remedy this from his good draw on Wednesday, although I haven't had him long enough to know much about him.''

Trainer John Smart is banking on Showman Jack's recent Wentworth Park experience enabling him to reproduce his good trial form there when he exits box eight in Wednesday night's NSW GBOTA Welcome Maiden, 520m.

Showman Jack clocked 30.08 when second at his Wentworth Park race debut from box two on June 15 and recorded 30.37 when runner-up from box three there on Saturday night.

Showman Jack has box eight on Wednesday and Smart is pleased with that draw.

"I think box eight will suit him and it gives him a chance to run up to his fast Wenty trials,'' Smart said.

"In his first post-to-post hand-slip Showman Jack clocked a very quick 24.08 and then in a trial from the 520m starting boxes he recorded 29.79.

"He is still learning but is a fast dog and from box eight we might see the best of him on Wednesday.''

Silent Sky's trainer Jacqueline Davis concedes her bitch has "limited ability" but is hoping last Wednesday's third placing at her Wentworth Park 520m debut improves her enough to see her lead throughout in this week's final event, a 520m fifth grade.

Last Wednesday Silent Sky reeled off a slick first split of 5.46 and set up a big early lead before weakening into third place and being beaten just over six lengths behind the classy Zipping Lyris.

"Silent Sky tends to crash towards the rails when she jumps so from box six I'm hoping she can get away fast like she did last week,'' Davis said.

"Her only experience at Wentworth Park before last week was a post to post slip so she had not been over 520m before.

"But she pulled up well and hopefully will be improved enough by that hit-out to get to the line a bit more strongly this week.''
