Record Breaking Ezmae

By Jeff Collerson
Miss Ezmae posted her second track record in six days when she rocketed over 605m at Dubbo on Saturday night and now trainer Jack Smith is looking forward to testing her over 720m at Wentworth Park.

Miss Ezmae led throughout to clock 34.35 at Dubbo, after recording 35.69 when equalling Rajasthan's Bathurst 618m time standard last Monday.

Smith's bitch is remarkably versatile as she won over 520m at Wentworth Park in a flying 29.67 on June 19.

"I'm hoping she will be able to run 720m at Wenty but due to Covid I'm not sure when I can get a chance to find out,'' Smith said.

Meanwhile Smith is also contemplating a step up in distance for Irinka Molly, who won over 516m at Dubbo on Saturday in a tidy 29.63.

Irinka Molly has won in an extra slick 29.72 over 520m at Wentworth Park but Smith believes she will be suited over a middle distance.

"The problem I have is that if I put her in a middle distance race I am likely to be racing against myself as she will probably be drawn against Miss Ezmae,'' Smith said.

While Miss Ezmae and Irinka Molly stole the show at Dubbo, Smith was equally pleased with the win by ZIPPING Hoppo who won over 400m in a steady 22.91.

"ZIPPING Hoppo broke down after finishing second over 520m at Wentworth Park on September 5 last year and there was a strong chance he would not race again,'' Smith said.

"But after nearly a year on the sidelines he bounced back to win on Saturday night.

"He is owned by Andrew Walker and his friends and family, a group of people from my area of Forbes.''

ZIPPING Hoppo is bred in the purple as his dam Crafty Lady has produced Jason Magri's stars ZIPPING Niseko, ZIPPING Sapporo, ZIPPING Moose, ZIPPING Zeek and Zipping Demand along with ZIPPING Katelyn, mother of boom youngsters ZIPPING Conway, ZIPPING Kansas, ZIPPING Alabama and ZIPPING Virginia.

Midnight Jill and Midnight Snooze won the first two races on Saturday night's Dubbo card but were sold within a few hours.

Midnight Jill is from the first litter whelped by Midnight Starlet, whose 516m Dubbo record of 29.27, set in September, 2018, was equalled recently by John Finn's crackerjack ZIPPING Kyrgios.

Midnight Snooze and Midnight Jill went to Dubbo with trainer David Pringle but by Sunday morning had changed hands.

"After Midnight Jill came out running and led all the way to win her 400m maiden race the phone was running hot,'' Pringle said.

"I could have sold her half a dozen times and when Midnight Snooze scored her 516m win in 29.87 she was sold too.

"Midnight Snooze is pretty strong and could develop into a handy middle distance bitch.''

Midnight Snooze has tremendous value as a brood bitch as her dam Midnight Elsa had previously whelped Sid Swain's smart duo Night Tracker and Midnight Escape, Jack Smith's Wentworth Park 520m and 720m winner Midnight Flash and Along The Line, a good money spinner for Sydney trainer Paul Bigeni.
