Conway And Kansas Set To Star

By Jeff Collerson
Return of litter brothers Zipping Conway and Zipping Kansas to their favourite track are expected to prove the highlights of tonight's Bulli meeting.

The Jason Magri-trained pair have won 10 of their 12 races and will be favourites to enhance their remarkable strike rates.

Zipping Conway has box three in race four, a 400m fifth grade, while Zipping Kansas will exit box seven in race 10, a 472m fifth grade.

Zipping Conway is unbeaten in five starts over 400m and 472m at Bulli and over 520m at Wentworth Park.

"He has not raced since winning at Wentworth Park in 29.73 on July 10 but while he is nice and fresh I expect him to go well,'' trainer Jason Magri said.

"Zipping Conway trialled over 400m at Bulli a couple of weeks back and clocked 22.30, just .05sec outside the time he clocked when he won there on May 11.

"Since that trial he has been kept fit by working in his run while my drive my quad bike alongside, on my property.

"Zipping Kansas, who has won five of his seven starts, won in 26.04 over 472m at Bulli on July 13 and he has had a similar preparation to his brother for this meeting.

"I send them both up the straight without a lure but running alongside the quad bike and they chalk up between 800m and 1000m every hit-out.

"It works well and keeps them in trim.''

Two other litter brothers and kennelmates On The Bus and How Good have also enjoyed unusual preparations for tonight's Bulli card.

On The Bus has box seven in race three, a fourth and fifth grade 400m event, while How Good will contest race six, a 472m fifth grade.

"They play regular games of soccer with me in our backyard and it not only keeps them fit but also makes them so happy,'' trainer Rodney O'Brien said.

"I let a bit of air out of the full size soccer balls so they can grab hold and they tear all around the yard, they just love it.

"How Good is having his first start over 472m at Bulli but while he has had a win and two seconds over 400m at his past three races there, he is better suited over this longer distance.

"He is nicely drawn and looks my better chance although I expect On The Bus to go well.

"On The Bus is up against the Million Dollar Chase winner Handsome Prince so I'm not confident but I am happy with his box seven draw.

"Although On The Bus has not won from an outside alley he has been placed in six of his seven races from box seven.

"He seems to baulk as he comes out of box one so I prefer him drawn out wide, as he seems to jump faster from outside boxes.''

Lenny Fox looms as one of How Good's toughest rivals and while he has not raced at Bulli, trainer Michelle Sultana expects the dog to be suited by the big track.

"When he was racing in Victoria earlier in his career Lenny Fox had no trouble handling a roomy track like Warragul.

"His second placings at Wentworth Park and Dapto this month were massive runs and I am confident he will go okay at Bulli.''
