Pink Can Be Ziggy's Colour

Ziggy Stardust has been beaten in seven appearances from boxes seven and eight but trainer Adam Campton remains happy with his greyhound's box eight draw at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

Ziggy Stardust, a hefty 34kg dog, shifted wide at the first turn when he scored his first Wentworth Park win on June 30 and will wear the pink rug in Saturday night's second race, a 520m fifth grade.

"Early in his career he always wanted to run around his rivals and while he does not do that so much now I still like seeing him boxed wide,'' Campton said.

"He has been placed in three of his seven starts from the two outside boxes but he has had no luck.

"In those races Ziggy Stardust put himself in a good position early only to be taken out at the first turn.

"He is flat out breaking 5.60 for the first split at Wenty so with that lack of early zip it is a matter of him getting safely around the first corner.

"If that happens he has a good chance.''

Another greyhound who should capitalise on carrying the pink rug is the George Borg-trained Jackpot Josie, who will exit box eight in race four, a 520m fifth grade.

"She seems well positioned because she has won five of her six races from this draw,'' Borg said.

"And looking at replays of their previous races, it seems that the dogs in boxes six and seven are likely to head towards the rails in the run to the first turn.

"Jackpot Josie's last start sixth over 400m at Richmond was an ordinary run but she missed the kick and once that happened she wasn't going to be in it because she has been knocked around a few times lately at Richmond.

"She just has to get on her bike in the early stages and she'll be hard to beat.''

Jackpot Josie's kennelmate Romantic Storm, a winner of eight races at Wentworth Park, looks well placed in Saturday night's sixth event, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.

"He certainly looks well suited in this grade and if he had drawn the rails in a race like this he would have looked a good thing,'' Borg said.

"Romantic Storm is going really well at the moment but for a dog like him box four, his draw on Saturday, can always be a problem.

"Romantic Storm has been getting away well but just lacks drive after he has gone 30 metres.

"When he finished second, beaten a length, behind Zipping Kyrgios in a much tougher race at Wentworth Park last Saturday night his run was super.

"He got onto the back of Zipping Kyrgios going through the catching pen, otherwise he might have made the race interesting.

"But he did have box one in that race and he loves that draw.''

Good Odds Cash opened her Wentworth Park account with a blistering best of the night performance in 29.70 on June 30 but moving from box one to box seven on Saturday night should not bring her unstuck.

Good Odds Cash will contest race seven, a 520m fifth grade, and while she has not previously started from box seven, she has a fine record from wide alleys.

The Tracey Hurst-trained bitch is undefeated in two starts from box eight and won one of her only two appearances from box six.
