Lord To Add To Her Monthly Haul

By Jeff Collerson
Jodie Lord has trained eight Wentworth Park winners in May and looks set to end the month on a winning note with outstanding prospects in at least three races on Saturday night.

Lord's trio Cruiser Model, who has box two in the Ladbroke It Stakes, Picture Frame (box two, Get Your Greyhound On Final) and Mr Ticket (box seven, Ladbrokes Easy Form Stakes) should go close to winning.

She will also be represented by General Payton (box six) in the Ladbrokes Same Race Multi Final, while in the Where Else But Wenty? Free-For-All Lord's runners are Second Exit (Pictured, box four), Coast Model (seven) and Winlock On Top (eight).

Lord is particularly keen on the chances of Cruiser Model, who was making her first Wentworth Park appearance when third all the way on May 19.

"Cruiser Model had box eight in that race and while boxes don't matter much to her, she is nicely position in box two on Saturday,'' Lord said.

"I expect Cruiser Model to be improved by her last start third because the only time she had previously seen Wentworth Park was in a post-to-post hand-slip.

"So after winning five from 10 provincial sprints she was tackling 520m for the first time at Wenty 10 days ago.''

Picture Frame is clearly the fastest qualifier for Saturday's Get Your Greyhound On Final, clocking 29.70 in her all-the-way heat win on May 19.

She had box two in her heat and will wear the checks rug again in the final.

In her heat Picture Frame began brilliantly and posted blistering early splits of 5.38 and 13.75.

"Picture Frame is usually a fast beginner and is desperate for an inside box so looks hard to beat on Saturday,'' Lord said.

Mr Ticket was skittled when in a winning position going through the catching pen at Wentworth Park last Saturday and should only need a clear run to win this week's Ladbrokes Easy Form from box seven.

"I thought he was just about going to win until he got knocked over last week and this dog is going really well at present,'' Lord said.

"He has box seven on Saturday but can handle a wide draw.''

In Saturday's Where Else But Wenty? Free-For-All, the form greyhound of Lord's starters is Coast Model who has recorded scorching times of 29.65 and 29.68 in all-the-way wins at her past two Wentworth Park outings.

Coast Model is awkwardly drawn in box seven but Lord said: "She is capable of pinging the lids and if she gets across and leads at the first turn she will go close.

"But she has to lead to win.

"Best boxed of my three runners in this race is Winlock On Top, who has box eight and will get plenty of room to move courtesy of Coast Model drawn on his left.''

Mark Gatt is another trainer with bright prospects of multiple wins on Saturday night as he has Hudson Road resuming from a spell in box two in the GBOTA Welcome Stakes and Ritza Gloria in box one in the Free-For-All.

Hudson Road won from box two in a handy 29.98 and from box three in 30.12 at Wentworth Park in March and Gatt likes his draw on Saturday night.

"He is trialling well enough to win and has a great draw in what looks a reasonably easy race,'' Gatt said.

"My only reservation with Hudson Road is that he is a clumsy sort of dog who can do things wrong in his races.

"Ritza Gloria has just returned after a seasonal spell and I was pleased with the way she got to the line when she finished second to SERIOUS Object on May 19.

"She had box seven in that race and is far better drawn on the rails on Saturday although she is facing a much stronger field because she has gone from fourth grade to free-for-all class.''

Lenny Fox and Rema's Fernando were runners-up in their heats of the Ladbrokes Same Multi Series but could battle out the final of Saturday night's final.

The Michelle Sultana-trained Lenny Fox was a certainty beaten when second to General Payton in his heat and goes from box seven in that race to box one on Saturday.

Rema's Fernando was beaten five lengths in 29.78 by Zipping Moose in his heat but finished strongly after being a distant fifth on the back straight.

Trainer Eddie Foyle said: "Before that race Rema's Fernando had just one trial at WP and clocked 30.28 so he went nicely in his race.

"He has box seven on Saturday and while I would have preferred an inside draw with him, Rema's Fernando is very strong and could be hard to hold out if he gets a clear run.

"But I think it will be over 618m at Richmond that he will really shine.''
