Young Talent Time At Dapto

By Peter Davis
Wentworth Park premiership winning trainer Mark Gatt has a proven formula for educating youngsters and, at Dapto on Thursday, he heads to the Showgrounds track with three live winning chances.

Siblings Good Time Lenny (Race one) and ZIPPING Stewie (race nine) are by Gatt’s Group 2 winner Ritza Lenny out Sherbini while Crawl, Gatt’s other runner, faces the speedy Cape Fernando in race eight.

While on debut and without disclosed trial form, punters will warm to Good Time Lenny which will get clear air early from box eight. Gatt’s trial regime focuses on a pup’s early education being at Dapto before progressing to Bulli and onto Richmond then Wentworth Park.

ZIPPING Stewie, who won his maiden at Wentworth Park on January 13, appeals as the night’s best bet from box one in race nine.

He’s shown very good dash in each of two starts at Wentworth Park and draws to quickly take up the running. Last week, the locally prepared Skedaddle Tess had box one when a 30.27s winner at her debut at Dapto and looks ZIPPING Stewie’s main threat.

She, however, moves to box seven and faces much tougher opposition this time.

Also well positioned is Gatt’s Crawl in race eight. He’s mixed box manners and form alike at Wentworth Park in recent weeks yet can show genuine pace.

He won at his two starts, at Dapto, in September registering 30.20s and 30.00s. Now more seasoned, Crawl should be able to get under the 30secs mark … but that’s a must to win should Cape Fernando fire out.

Cape Fernando has the inside running and was terrific in a slick 26.18s win at Bulli on Saturday. He’s also won at Wentworth Park in a smart 29.82 and a flying 22.38s over 400m at Richmond
