Independent GWIC Review Of Box Draw Process

By GRNSW
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) can announce that it has requested the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission (GWIC) to carry out an independent review into the box draw process.

“Participants will be aware that GRNSW conducted an audit of the box draw process late last year to provide participants with assurances that the box draw process is fair and robust,” GRNSW CEO Tony Mestrov said.

A copy of the audit can be found here on the GRNSW website.

Despite this audit, some participants have continued to express concerns to GRNSW and GWIC about the box draw process.

“In my view GRNSW’s automated box draw process is of the highest integrity. However, given the concerns expressed, I have requested GWIC conduct its own independent review so that every participant can feel confident in our box draw process,” Mr Mestrov said.

GWIC will now commence a fact-finding investigation into the box draw process and report the findings to the industry in coming weeks.

Interim CEO of GWIC Steve Griffin said: “It is critical that participants and the punting public have confidence in all processes relating to racing. The way in which the box draw is conducted is one of the processes where the integrity needs to beyond reproach. GWIC will conduct a thorough investigation of the box draw process and report its findings as soon as possible.”
