Truvy Ready To Take The Step Up

Zipping Truvy will be all the rage for Thursday night's $5000 to the winner 600m GRNSW Middle Distance Series Stakes at Dapto before making her eagerly anticipated 720m debut at Wentworth Park next Wednesday.

Zipping Truvy staged a remarkable last-to-first performance to run down the outstanding sprinter Stanley Road over 600m at Dapto last Thursday, recording 34.42s.

Those figures compared well with Zipping Truvy's best Dapto 600m time, a near record 34.19, posted from box two on January 23.

"I had three options with her this week, Dapto Thursday, Richmond Friday or Ladbrokes Gardens Saturday, but I chose Dapto because there is a 720m fifth grade programmed for Wentworth Park on November 4,'' trainer Rob Tyler said.

"That meant the Dapto race fitted nicely as it gives Zipping Truvy six days before stepping out over 720m for the first time.

"Getting box one on Thursday is a bonus because from there she should be able to show what she can really do.

"Zipping Truvy is actually a better beginner than what most people think, it's just that in shorter races she does not have the pace to be up near the lead at the first corner.

"Before she won at Dapto last week I trialled her over 450m at Bathurst and she flew, clocking 25.40 and running home in the virtually unheard of figures of 10.10s.''

Injuries have restricted Zipping Truvy to just 30 starts but she has managed to win eight races and fill seven placings, mostly in unsuitably short races.

No Problem Here's 30.25 was slowest of the three heat winners of Dapto's Sportsbet Stakes last week but trainer Michael Clayton believes moving from box seven to the rails trap means the dog can go much faster in Thursday night's 520m final.

In last week's heats the Ruth King-trained Moon Line exited box eight and came from midfield early to win in 30.05 while Flashing Torque won a heat in 30.17 after jumping from box one and leading throughout.

A relieved Clayton said: "No Problem Here has finally drawn a suitable box.

"In his past nine races he has not drawn closer to the fence than box four yet he is desperate for the rail.

"When I trial No Problem Here on his own he often goes around the first turn bumping the inside rail, which is scary.

"He jumped well in his heat but crossed over sharply from his wide draw and because that was his first 520m hit-out for two months I expect him to strip a lot fitter in the final.

"When No Problem Here began fast from box four and led all the way in a 520m race at Dapto in March he clocked 29.70 so he has shown he can put the time on the board.''

Interestingly at his most recent start from box one, over 520m at WP in June, No Problem Here led throughout in a sizzling 29.80.

The dog has been beaten just once in five races while wearing the red rug.
