Cup Placegetter Well Suited In A Midweeker

By Jeff Collerson
Show Me Confetti has won four Wentworth Park 720m races but her third placing over that course last Friday night was her best performance and makes her look a stand-out bet in tonight's easier Ladbrokes Back Yourself Stakes at headquarters.

Last Friday Show Me Confetti came from midfield at the half-way mark to beat all but Here's Tears and Sunset Bourbski in the group one Sydney Cup but she drops sharply in class tonight to fourth and fifth grade.

Alan Proctor, whose wife Christine trains Show Me Confetti, said: "Her run in the Cup was good because Show Me Confetti had box six and could not get across to the rails in the early stages.

"Although she has box six again there is nothing drawn in five and having that vacant box on her inside should be a big help.

"Show Me Confetti has had four wins and 15 placings over 720m at Wenty and has earned over $62,000.

"Her owner Michael Jones bred her from his brood bitch Esparza and Show Me Confetti and her siblings have won around $400,000 in stakes.''

Zipping Moose, who won his heat and final of this month's Million Dollar Chase Maiden, is boxed to maintain his unbeaten record in tonight's Congrats Here's Tears Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Zipping Moose had box six when he trailed the leader to the home bend before winning his WP Chase Maiden heat in 30.22 and came from box three to win last Friday night's final in 30.21.

"He was third to the turn in his final win but in this week's race, from his good box two draw, Zipping Moose has a great chance of going straight to the front,'' trainer Luke Adams said.

"If he manages to do that he should go a lot faster than 30.21.''

Adams looked to have bright prospects with Zipping Moose's litter sister Zipping Niseko in tonight's GBOTA Welcome Maiden but she will be a scratching.

"Zipping Niseko hurt herself in the paddock at home, which is really unfortunate because she looked well suited out wide in box eight,'' Adams said.

The formguide suggests Perfecto will make his debut in tonight's John Fitzwilliams Memorial Maiden but the dog was desperately unlucky when involved in a "no race'' at WP on September 30.

Perfecto and Stay Connected looked certain to run the quinella when near the lead at the top of the straight but the lure broke down and the race was abAndoned.

Perfecto gets his chance at redemption tonight and trainer Stephen Davies is delighted with his dog's box two draw.

"He had box six in the no race but is far better off drawn near the rails,'' Davies said.

"Perfecto has had just one trial since the Wenty no-race but went extra well in a post-to-post hand-slip at LADBROKES GARDENS.

"He clocked 24.50 which is very smart and as long as the dog does not hold any bad memories of Wenty because of the lure mishap, he should be hard to beat in this race.''

Tonight's best value bet should be Plumb, who has drawn ideally in box one the Where Else But Wenty Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Plumb had box one when he missed the start before a great second behind Canya Star in a similar race at Wentworth Park 12 months ago and his conqueror that night has since won three top grade Wentworth Park races and finished third in Friday night's Million Dollar Chase Consolation at headquarters.

This month Plumb has won twice over 440m at Goulburn in dazzling style and should only need to step away cleanly from box one as the dogs in boxes two and three lack early pace while Enjoy Yourself, who provided Melbourne Cup winner Ando's Mac with his first WP success as a sire last Saturday night, has drawn four and uses a bit of the track.
