Nothing like growing a leg at a new kennel

By Jeff Collerson
Unison has "grown a leg'' since being taken over by Londonderry trainer Michelle Sultana concedes the exciting 26 month old prospect's owner Chris Brydon.

Unison took his record to five wins and two seconds from his past seven with a blistering 26.02 win at Bulli on Saturday night, .05sec faster than Ebby Infrared took to down Good Odds Harada in the meeting's top grade 472m event.

Brydon, proprietor of a small courier business in the Hunter Valley, said: "Michelle pre-trained Unison for me but I had him in my kennels for his first six or seven starts.

"He won his maiden race at Maitland for me but because Unison showed so much promise, I decided to hand him back to Michelle.

"I work full time and Michelle is a professional trainer so I figured she would do a lot better with the dog than I could, and I'm glad I made that decision.

"My first city winner as an owner-trainer was Charlu Skye at WP on February 14, 2018, and because she was a daughter of Silver Bullet, I became friends with that bitch's owner Peter Freney.

"Charlu Skye was by Fabregas so when Silver Bullet whelped another litter, to Sh Avatar at the same time as I won that race at WP, I decided to buy another of her pups.

"I paid $3500 for the pup which races as Unison when he was five weeks old.''

Freney's bitch Silver Bullet has become an outstanding producer, as the Michelle Sultana-trained Drink Schooners, a litter brother to Charlu Skye, won the listed The Collerson, while her litter to Sh Avatar, also prepared by Sultana, also includes Maitland Future Stars winner Drink Shoeys, who has won four from seven, Drink Moet (four of 12) and Drink Beer (five from 11).
