The John McCombe Memorial - a race named in honour of the club's former president - is a supporting feature on the Richmond club's night of night, the evening they stage the Derby and Oaks Finals.
The race has been won by some handy dogs over the years, with Anthony Azzopardi's Where's Keroma winning in 2013, and Jack Smith's Big Daddy Bee taking out the Memorial in 2018.
In 2020, Pat Chaker and her son Jackson produced Zipping Byron to take out the John McCombe Memorial.
In 2022 it was Darren Sultana who took out the feature with his youngster Try Catch Jett, while in 2023
Ritza Trish took out the John Mccombe Memorial for Trish Chalker in 2024.
