Run on the same night as the Bulli Club's feature event the Cyril Rowe Bulli Gold Cup, the Graham Gibbons Memorial is sponsored by Harry Markou, a gesture out of respect and one to remember and celebrate his good friend.
The race has grown in significance and stature since its inception, and is now an event targeted each year by trainers.
The event has produced many good dogs, and several good stories including that of Tullabung Rock in 2016.
Trained by Neil Staines, the dog had setback after setback, and despite excelling in trials, his race debut was eventually delayed by eight months. When he finally made it to the track, Tullabung Rock won the heat and final of the Graham Gibbons Memorial.
In 2019, Mark Gatt's Ritza Vonnie won the race, defeating Prince Planet, and La Grand Quality. The third dog would break his maiden soon after, winning the Grafton Maiden Series.
