First conducted as the Dapto Thousand in 1966 over 507 metres on a grass track, the Maiden series has become an institution at the South Coast club.

Many smart greyhounds have begun their careers at Dapto in the Maiden series including inaugural Golden Easter Egg winner Ultra Sense.

More recently, the Dapto maiden produced a stunning performance in 2015.

Jason Fletcher's Fantastic Dotty won her heat of the series in an amazing 29.43s, a time which clipped 0.01s off the track record of Double Twist.

Then in the semi-final the following week, again leading all the way as she had in the heat, Fantastic Dotty broke her own track record with a stunning 29.34s run.

Unbackable in the final, Fantastic Dotty dwelt at the start, was checked on the first turn, and looked long odds to win up the back straight. But she charged at the leader Tilly's Boy, and lunging on the line, got the photo decision.

In 2019, the final was washed out and had to be postponed a week, The following Thursday the eight runners returned and it was Jodie Lord's El Rapido overcoming early trouble to break her maiden status.
