The current licensing period for public trainers, owner-trainers, breeders and attendants has been extended to 30 June 2018 to allow for Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) to begin the development of a new licensing framework for all industry participants.
The development of such a framework was a key recommendation of both the Special Commission of Inquiry and the Greyhound Industry Reform Panel to ensure the integrity and future sustainability of the greyhound racing industry.
As a result, GRNSW will undertake a licensing project to implement broad changes to the licensing framework to seize opportunities for improvement in the regulatory sector and ensure the industry remains viable.
A detailed discussion paper is being developed to give stakeholders the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed changes.
Under the licence extension, all current licence holders will have their current licensing period automatically extended to 30 June 2018 at no additional cost.
All identification cards for the current licensing period will also be valid up until 30 June 2018.
