Under federal and NSW legislation, discrimination, bullying and harassment is against the law.
Like in any industry, all people involved in greyhound racing including club officials and industry participants have the right to enjoy an environment free of discrimination, harassment and bullying.
Due to this, GRNSW has released an Anti-Discrimination, Harassment and Bullying Policy.
This policy extends to any person connected with greyhound racing and ensures that unacceptable behaviour will not be tolerated in any circumstances. That includes harassment of participants by other participants and or discrimination, harassment or bullying by any person of any employee or representative of GRNSW.
Persons involved in any behaviour that is found to constitute discrimination, harassment or bullying may be subject to penalties under the Greyhound Racing Rules including revocation of licence.
GRNSW understands the need to ensure all employees, clubs and participants in NSW are aware of the GRNSW anti-discrimination, harassment and bullying policy and importantly what constitutes discrimination, harassment and bullying.
While there are several definitions, harassment is any unwanted, unwelcome or uninvited behaviour, which makes a person feel humiliated, intimidated or offended. Harassment can occur face-to-face, via social media, via telephone or over the email.
Bullying, meanwhile, is defined as repeated and unreasonable behaviour directed towards person or a group of people that creates a risk to health and safety.
