Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) sadly advises that GRNSW North Coast Integrity Officer Ron Matthews passed away suddenly on Friday.
Mr Matthews had worked in the greyhound racing industry since 1977 when he became a Cadet Steward with the Greyhound Racing Control Board (GRCB).
He was appointed as a full-time Steward with the GRCB in 1979, a position he held for nine years before he became Chairman of Stewards with Greyhound Racing Tasmania.
He returned to NSW greyhound racing in 2008 when he took on the role of North Coast Integrity Officer.
The thoughts of GRNSW are with family and friends of Mr Matthews.
Mr Matthews funeral will be held at 11am on Wednesday 19 September at the Lismore Memorial Gardens Crematorium, Skyline Rd, Goonellabah.
The funeral will be followed by a wake at Lismore GBOTA, 1 Molesworth St, Lismore.

GRNSW has launched the Thank Dog It’s Friday racing series which will showcase the best regional racing NSW has to offer in a primetime Friday night slot. As part of the series, seven provincial tracks will stage their feature race meeting heats and finals on a Friday night.

Greyhound Racing NSW has introduced a new Masters racing category for any greyhound aged 3 ½ years (42 months) and over. The first Masters racing event will commence at Gosford on Tuesday 9 September 2014.
