The exciting start to the stud career of Magic Sprite rolls on at Bulli on Monday night where the budding young sire has progeny lined-up in each of the three maiden heats over the 400-metre journey.
Well received by breeders since injury cut short his successful racing career, John and Jane Carruthers have been thrilled with the response to their charge at stud, with his pups now really starting to hit the tracks.
In the opener on Monday night, two Magic Sprite pups take their place, with recent 22.66 Richmond performance trial winner Charmed Assassin likely to start all-the-rage for Jane Carruthers.
Out of Assassin Journey, box six may well be a leveller for Charmed Assassin, but off that fast Richmond trial he must be considered hardest to beat at his racetrack debut.
In the same race, Kristy Sultana unearths February 2011 chaser Inconvenient, a daughter of Magic Sprite and Rechargeable.
Bred on strong lines, Inconvenient is likely to be well supported for the Sultana clan after landing the plumb rails alley from the 400-metre start.
It makes for an intriguing spectacle, with Christine Oldfield’s Spring Cruise heading into the race with sound form and also sure to be right in betting calculations.
The second heat sees another two Magic Sprite pups take their place with Heroic Journey and Champagne Shower engaged.
Heroic Journey, another of the Carruthers’ breed out of Valiant Journey, has drawn box five, while Champagne Shower has landed box four for trainer Tony Messina.
In a race devoid of any real depth, both chasers look more than capable of snaring a victory with a clean getaway.
In the third and final run-off, the third of the Carruthers’ maidens lines up from box eight in the shape of Valiant Sprite, who recently finishing 11 lengths astern of Charmed Assassin in his fast Richmond trial.
Tony Messina will also put another of his Magic Sprite x Kristen Alyssa pups through its place in this event, with Just Bubbles drawn box five.
Finishing in the placings at both her outings to date, she looks well capable of going one step better on Monday.
Each of the three maiden heats at Bulli on Monday night look to be rather interesting affairs, with the deeds of Magic Sprite’s pups sure to attract plenty of attention.

In coming weeks GRNSW will move to grading meetings on its new OzChase system. To coincide with this change GRNSW is moving to one combined NSW Grading Policy, rather than maintaining separate TAB and Non-TAB policies. Feedback on the changes, particularly as they relate to Non-TAB grading, is now called for.
